The Expundeus is pleased to advise that a remote operational environment is being prepared for contractors who wish to take on work from outside the physical office. The environment will replicate the full operational scope of contractor work: briefings, field assignments, formation combat, wilderness traversal, and the usual range of things that can go badly wrong in interesting ways.
Contractors operating in this environment will be subject to the standard terms of engagement. Permadeath applies. Full loot recovery is authorised. The world remembers what you did. The Expundeus keeps records.
Further details to follow when the environment is ready for contractors. In the meantime, the notice board will be updated as operational parameters are confirmed.

The environment is text-based. This is not a limitation. It is a deliberate operational choice consistent with the principle that the world is the protagonist, not the graphics budget. Contractors who have worked in text environments previously will find this familiar. Contractors who have not will find it works exactly as described once they stop expecting pictures.
Solo operation is fully supported. Group operations unlock depth that solo work cannot access. The wilderness between anchor locations is procedurally generated. There are fifteen to twenty-five anchor locations. The spaces between them are where most things happen.

The following operational details are available to cleared personnel only: server location, connection protocols, REDACTED, telnet port assignment, WebSocket configuration, and the name of the person who is currently writing the combat system. The last of these is known but is being kept from the notice board on the grounds that he is busy and does not need the pressure.

Eapheron Online is a text-based multiplayer game set in the same continent as the Newcomer's Guide. It is not a casual game. It is not a comfortable game. It is a game built around three principles: mystery and the unknown, camaraderie under pressure, and the world is the protagonist. If you are looking for something that rewards patience, careful play, and the willingness to die and start again, you are in the right place.
When your character dies, they are gone. The world remembers them. You do not get them back. This is a feature, not a threat.
What you carry, you risk. What you take from fallen enemies, you keep. The economy of the world runs on this. It is, in practice, clarifying.
You can play alone. The world is built to support it. The deepest content requires groups, but you will never be blocked from the world because no one else is online.
Tick-based, formation-positioned, with five resources to manage: HP, stamina, wounds, mana, and fatigue. Combat is not button-mashing. It rewards preparation and positioning.
Fifteen to twenty-five anchor locations. Procedurally generated wilderness between them. Maps decay. Knowledge matters. The world does not stay still.
Factions form opinions. The places you have been carry the marks of your visit. Other contractors hear your name. The world is the protagonist, and you are part of its story whether you intended to be or not.
You are not a chosen one. You are not the saviour of the world. You are not the heir to a prophecy, the one true champion of any particular cause, or the subject of a quietly meaningful prophecy delivered to your mother before your birth. You are a contractor, one of many. You will be given a brief. You will go and do the thing. You will come back, get paid, and decide what to do next.
